CoMoveIT in the spotlights
In this video, we meet Levi. He drives his powered wheelchair with CoMoveIT Smart, using small movements of his head. Prof. Elegast Monbaliu, professor of rehabilitation sciences at KU Leuven and Clinical Officer at CoMoveIT, explains how the system works and why it makes a difference.
From research to everyday mobility
CoMoveIT started as a KU Leuven spin-off. A research team including Prof. Monbaliu developed a smart algorithm that can interpret the movements of people with complex movement disorders, such as cerebral palsy, and turn them into reliable wheelchair control.
Levi helps with the development of new systems, such as gaming and computer access. That is an incredible extra asset.
What is CoMoveIT Smart?
CoMoveIT Smart is our proven head control system for powered wheelchair users who need an alternative to a conventional joystick. An adaptive algorithm filters out unintended movements, so driving stays stable and safe. Smart supports head and foot input, switched driving and computer access, and it is easy for clinicians to set up.
More independence for Levi
For Levi, it means choosing where he goes himself. He picks his own groceries, plans shopping trips and has more freedom in his daily life.
